Notes from the Road
VDOT

Update on VDOT Slurry Seal

Approximately half of the public streets have received treatment applications in the slurry seal project. VDOT anticipates slurry paving on Stone Ridge streets will be completed on August 18th, 2017.

Be Prepared! Please watch this video to learn the five steps in the slurry seal process.

Step 1: Minor repairs- COMPLETE
Step 2: Treatment Application- IN PROGRESS
Step 3: Drying and Curing (24-48 Hours After Install) Protect the surface of your streets by keeping your speeds low and avoid cutting the steering wheel hard like backing out of a driveway. Watch the video for additional tips.
Step 4: Settling In (2-3 Weeks After) For the first couple of weeks after the install, it's natural for some of the fine surface gravel to wear out of the slurry matrix especially at intersections and along the gutters.
Step 5: Inspection (2-3 Weeks After Application) After the surface treatment has had enough time to settle in and installation punch-list is completed, VDOT’s contractor will perform a final inspection; weather dependent. During inspection if there is too much material remaining on the road, a vacuum sweep will be performed.
Step 6: Achieving Profile (2-8 weeks) VDOT monitors the progress of the project. If there are any issues detected, they are placed on a punch list for the VDOT contractor to address.

Route 606/Loudoun County Parkway/Old Ox Road Construction Update

  • Construction of storm sewer for new travel lanes and bike trail

Dental Implants & You

Dental implants represent the closest thing to a natural tooth. In fact, no dental restoration comes even remotely close to dental implants in terms of their ability to recreate a missing tooth!

If you lost a tooth years ago or even need to have a tooth removed today, a dental implant will recreate the appearance of your own tooth. Most patients return to work or school the day after the procedure!

Dr. Mark M. Armanious is a Board Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, conveniently located in the Gum Spring Library Building right here in Stone Ridge.
